Blogging

Recently I made an entry drawing comparisons between guys and cars. Unfortunately I did not save it and it is now gone. I can't exactly remember what I wrote though. Is that precisely the idea of a blog? Wait a minute! Or did I dream about that one.

I had a discussion with some classmates about blogging. And came up with a list of reasons why people blog.

  1. An outlet to vent your frustrations and thoughts. Best friend's blog is a channel of grievances that she suffered at the hands of her students, her family and I suspect that she does not mention any friends in it because er she might have alternative outlets to trash us.
  2. An opportunity to have a producer/ director to knock on your door to invite you to star in a porn show after you unbashfully posted er your not so well-covered pictures.
  3. A travelogue / online diary. Vv's reflects her blissful love-life with her boyfriend and their travels and their lives in China. So full of photos, so jealous to read it leh.
  4. To take up space in the cyber world. MoonFace has a blog which she updates when her face turns blue. Hello, do you still remember that you own a blog? Whenever I visit her blog, I always thought that the page was not refreshed because it will always be the same entry ever.
  5. To provide inspirations to others. I am grateful to this blogger whose blog I will faithfully read everyday. The european is a fan of Singapore and has got really positive outlook in life and that sort of rub onto me too. Because ever since I started reading his blog since last Oct, I recovered from my year long depression (Y3 should really prescribe this to her patients).
  6. To make a living. Yah, how can anyone make a living out of blogging? Apparently they do. Now bloggers have already taken over the printed medium such as the papers, they endorse the most unthinkable products and have a huge followings.

I am almost sure that I am not type 6. No endorsements. I vaguely remembered my first reason of having a blog and today it is a different reason that I continued blogging. I used to have a diary, yes, one that I wrote in Chinese, in my chinese to be precise and so even if I felt it lying around, no one else will be able to figure what I wrote, myself included. Am i genius or what? It started with some senseless complaints about my work and co. Little did I know that 1/2 a year later, it was my channel of grieving and healing. In fact, I did not write for a long time (my standard of long time is a couple of months) after my father passed away because then I was just a living lump, no inspirations, no life, no outlook. For a while, my blog saw more tears then any other person has. Many a times, I was crying when I made my entries. i have since recovered (hopefully) even though some times my emotions still get the better of me.

These days, I blog for leisure. In fact, after knowing that I do in fact have readers (scary leh, even more scary is that no one leaves any comment and when I bring up certain happenings in my life, people went, Yah I read about it), I write with more caution and thoughts. I certainly hope that it is reflected in the entries.

Yes, I do nothing except to blog and read blogs. In my dreams.
